About As

Belasco Family

We are a 100% family company dedicated to wines since 1988. Originating in the Kingdom of Navarra, in the north of Spain and on the border with France. We have been dedicated to making wines for 3 generations.

In 2001, Juan Ignacio Belasco decided to look for new vineyards in Argentina. Finally, he chose Mendoza, and specifically, Agrelo, in Juan de Cuyo.

Today, his son Mikel Belasco is in charge of the winery.

Wine cellar

It is probably still one of the most technologically built in Mendoza in the last 30 years.

The great challenge of Mendoza is the heat and the very low humidity of the air.

Architecture:

  • · Imitates a castle from the Kingdom of Navarra from the 14th century.
  • · Built with a double wall of Mendoza brick and insulation in the middle of both.
  • · Built underground to maintain low temperature and high humidity.

Technology:

  • · Small tanks with individual pump-over pump.
  • · Individual temperature control system by interior panels and with a central computer.
  • · 5000 liter stainless steel delestage.
  • · 2 cold chambers to cool the grapes to 10ºC.
  • · 3 individual barrel rooms.
  • · Steam barrel washing machine at a temperature of 92ºC.

Harvest

  • · 100% by hand with scissors and collected in small 17kg boxes.
  • · Vineyard around the winery: The transfer of the grapes to the winery is done in less than 5 minutes.
  • · All the grapes are cooled for 24 hours at a temperature of 10ºC in a cold chamber.
  • · All the grapes go through a first manual sorting belt.
  • · Our high-end wines make a second grain selection band.
  • · We use dry ice to prevent oxidation of the grapes.
